Transforming Thoughts

About

This is my story.

I want you to know a little about who you'd actually be working with before you book a call, that's me, Tommy. Not a bio written in the third person, just the honest version.

Tommy Correia, clinical hypnotherapist and NLP-informed coach
Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, ICCHNLP Master PractitionerMember, IAPCP

I didn't start out planning to do this work. Before any of it, I spent twenty years in international hotel and travel leadership, the last stretch of it as CEO. It's an industry that teaches you things no classroom does - how to read a room in seconds, how to stay steady when everyone around you isn't, how to see the structure underneath a problem instead of just its symptom.

Somewhere in those years I also taught myself computer programming. I've stayed reasonably conversant with newer technology since, AI included, even though it's never been my real area of expertise, more a discipline of keeping pace with a world that doesn't hold still. Adapting isn't optional if you want to keep finding new ground; standing still just means the opportunities move out of your reach instead.

What eventually pulled me toward this work was more personal - my own experience of a mind that wouldn't settle, and the slow, unglamorous process of learning what actually helped it to. What struck me, training as a hypnotherapist and NLP-informed coach, was how much of what people carry, poor sleep, low confidence, the sense of being braced for something that hasn't happened yet, isn't a character flaw or a life sentence. It's a pattern. And patterns can be worked with.

That's the whole premise of how I practise. I'm not here to hand you a script, a five-step framework, or a guarantee I can't honestly make. I'm here to work alongside you, bringing training, structure and a calm, steady presence, while you bring the honesty, the effort and the willingness to be part of your own change. Neither half works without the other.

My hypnotherapy and NLP training run through some of the people who shaped the field itself including Dr Richard Bandler, co-creator of NLP, alongside John & Kathleen La Valle, Steve Crabb, Tina Taylor, Paul McKenna, Gloria Hammett and Alessandro Mora.

Outside client work, I've studied Tai Chi and Qigong under Dr Yang, Jwing-Ming - founder of YMAA and one of the field's most widely published authors. It's a daily practice, not a credential, but it shapes the same calm, regulated presence I try to bring into every session. Beyond that, you'll usually find me outdoors; walking is where a lot of my own thinking happens.

I've also travelled, lived and worked in a number of different countries. Separately, I've put real effort into learning several languages over the years, partly because it broadens how you communicate, partly because I've always found it came easily and genuinely enjoyed it. It gives you a lot of practice noticing how differently people communicate, and how much of what's actually being said sits underneath the words themselves, which is, in a roundabout way, most of what NLP is actually about.

Why I do this work

I don't just study change. I've had to do it myself.

“I used to smoke sixty cigarettes a day. I stopped overnight, completely, and it held.”
Relevant toWhat I bring to stopping smoking: I'm not guessing at what it takes to break an automatic habit at that scale. I've done it.

‍
“I spent years avoiding public speaking including years running a business where I couldn't avoid it forever.”
Relevant toWhat I bring to confidence and executive work: competence and confidence don't always arrive together. I closed that gap in myself before I ever helped anyone close it in theirs.
“I've changed my own relationship with food and fitness, not through another diet, but through consistency and low-impact habits that actually held.”
Relevant toWhat I bring to weight: I understand the difference between a plan that ends and a change that doesn't, because I've lived both.

How I work

A few things I want you to know, before we ever speak.

This is collaborative. I don't believe in a one-size package, and I won't offer you one. What we do together depends on you - your situation, your pace, and what you tell me is or isn't working. Your feedback after every session actively shapes the next one.

I won't overpromise. I can offer you a structured, evidence-informed process and my full attention within it. I can't promise a specific result, a specific timescale, or that this will "cure" a named medical condition - no reputable practitioner can, and UK advertising standards rightly don't allow it. NLP-informed coaching and hypnotherapy are educational and complementary services, not medical or psychiatric treatment. What I can tell you honestly is what tends to help, and why.

This is confidential. Whatever brings you here stays between us, held to the standards set out in my Client Agreement and Privacy Policy.

Everything happens online. Sessions are held over video call, wherever you are in the UK - no waiting room, no premises to find. (In exceptional circumstances, an in-person session can be arranged by agreement - ask on your discovery call.)

Every session is with me. No exceptions. I use AI extensively in the admin and research side of running this practice - I don't pretend otherwise. But I do all client work personally. Nothing about the actual time with you is automated, templated, or generated. That's not a marketing line; it's a boundary I hold on principle.

I'm a Member of the IAPCP (International Alliance of Professional Complementary Practitioners) and practise within their published Code of Conduct, a copy of which is available on request. I'm a certified clinical hypnotherapist through the International College of Clinical Hypnosis (ICCH), having completed their year-long clinical training and passed the qualifying exam, and I hold NLP Advanced Master Practitioner level certification.

If any of this resonates, let's have a conversation.
