Tame anxiety
Tame the anxiety. Keep your edge.
Not another breathing app or a lecture about work-life balance. This is about the pattern underneath the constant scanning for what might go wrong and teaching your nervous system it can stand down, without taking your drive down with it.
Sound familiar?
What "anxious" actually sounds like, up close.
“My mind jumps straight to worst case, before I've even finished the sentence in my head.”
“I'm tired all the time, but my body won't actually switch off.”
“I over-prepare for everything because I can't tolerate being caught out.”
“Small things set off a reaction that feels much bigger than the thing itself.”
What we're actually working with
Anxiety isn't a personality trait. It's a nervous system stuck in the "on" position and that's a solvable, practical problem.
With most who contact me about anxiety and stress aren't dealing with one big, obvious problem, they're carrying an accumulated, low-grade state of alert that's become their normal. Trying to think your way out of that rarely lands, because the pattern doesn't live in the thinking part of your mind; it lives in the automatic, in-the-moment response.
Work is directly with that automatic response, helping your body relearn what it feels like to properly stand down. Coaching is woven in, looking honestly at the situations, habits and thought patterns that keep re-triggering the alert so the change holds up in real life, not just in a calm room.
Worth knowing: if what you're carrying feels closer to a diagnosed anxiety disorder, panic disorder or depression, please also speak to your GP. This is an educational, complementary service - it isn't medical or psychiatric treatment, and I'll always be honest if I think that's the more appropriate first step.
